I believe Catfish gives us as viewers a taste of the influence social media holds on us. We underestimate the power and abilities people have to manipulate and deceive via social media. These influences can be dangerous and hurtful if we let them. For example, in Catfish, if Neev (sp) and his friends had not remained calm and down-to-earth through their experience, someone could have been hurt or lawfully in trouble.
